Mindful Stitching and Mindless Stitching

As a long time knitter I use knitting for relaxation, creation, meditation and distraction, depending on mood and need.

A nice piece of complicated stitching such as lace or cables can distract me from my worries as it requires my attention and concentration.

For comfort knitting I turn to socks and dishcloths and scarves, things i can knit without thought, just enjoying the repetitive motion of the stitches.

I like to knit while watching TV, and a less complicated but interesting piece will usually fit the bill.

I love the versatility of knitting – the degree of difficulty and complexity chosen to suit my purpose at the time and to serve a specific need.

Welcome! I always like to hear what people think of a post, it often leads to a great discussion! I am now responding to comments and questions right in the comments themselves, so other people can follow the conversation.
