Read The Martian this week-end. I’d seen the movie already and really liked it, so was cautious about reading the book. A colleague convinced me to give it a go. So glad she did! I really enjoyed it, laughed out loud a lot and was impressed at how well the movie captured the essence of the book. Lots of science but also a good, fun adventure read.
Along with Bushboy’s blanket which I knit on at night, I am finally working on sock 2 of my Wanida Socks. Loving this pattern (by Cookie A.) and the colours of this yarn (Nova Yarn). Made it to the heel on Sunday!
What are you knitting and reading?
I have not gotten around to seeing or reading The Martian – you’ve reminded me to do both. Thanks. On the yarn – just started learning how to crochet.

I am a weak crocheter – I blame it on being a lefty with no one to teach me.

I’ve been wondering about reading the book. I saw the movie and really enjoyed it — typically I don’t read the books after the movie (I do the other way around though). So maybe I should read this one…
I’m currently reading The Outward Room by Millen Brand. And just finished The Lightkeepers by Abbi Geni which I would recommend to you. Fiction based on biology/photography/islands. It really made me think… I’m 5 books from finishing my book challenge! I’m not sure I’ll make it…the ones remaining are the ones I knew would be hard for me to read but I’m going to try. I have almost a month to get them in!
Knitting…not. Too stressed. Am spinning. Need to get back to the needles soon though — there were 2 projects I wanted to finish before hitting the field. It’s a possibility if I just start!

It is one of the closest book to movie translations I’ve seen. Very impressed on how far you’ve come with the challenge!!

Oh, I love that pretty sock yarn! I also love Cookie A’s sock patterns! They will look lovely when they are finished. I’ve just begun reading ‘H for Hawk’ by Helen MacDonald, as recommended by several of my friends. Ros x
