Christmas Rose

Another flower out of place at my front door. A pink miniature rose determined to see Christmas. It has slowly opened from the bud, every day a little more exposed. I keep expecting to find it brown and withered, but every day its pink face shines.

We put our Christmas tree up last night. Did you know there is a shortage of indoor lights right now? We had to go to three stores to find new lights. Not essential, but Bushboy wanted red lights for the tree this year and I do love to see him get into the spirit.

We are moving ever closer to the end of the year as well, so I am contemplating my word for 2016. I think I have it, I’m just letting it sit for a while first.

  1. The tree looks great! We have a couple of roses out in our garden; unheard-of in December! They look extra special. Have a lovely festive time! Ros

    • I saw some roses at the front of a neighbour’s house, even after our Christmas snow!

  2. Merry Christmas Kate & family! This includes your sweet animals ♡

I LOVE your pretty pink Christmas rose! That’s what is so wonderful about living in BC, you can sometimes find the unexpected in unusual times of the year. I’m still amazed by the green grass!

Before I go, I thought of you yesterday, when I saw 3 bald eagles at ‘our’ park near the lake. It looked like an adult & 2 smaller, youngun’s, perhaps. They were high in the sky, calling in their unmistakable call. Precious. Glorious. Rare.

    • Merry Christmas!!
I think of you every time I see the eagles (and that’s a lot).

      • You’re very sweet! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful CChristmas your home. Love your tree! Soon it’ll be 2016 🎆🏇⌛time just evaporates, doesn’t it? Every year is racing by. Ah well, I’ve (seriously) been practicing living in the moment. It’s a start.

Speaking of, I believe that I found my word-of-the-year for 2016! It came to me many times throughout the day, the other day. It’s GRATEFUL. I am grateful for everyone in my life. Let’s make next year great!

Btw, are baby or young eagles called ‘eaglets’? It warms my heart that when we see eagles, we think of each other :) I’ve missed you & everyone’s comments in your blog. It’s been a heck of a year, health wise. It’s slowly improving. I’m grateful.

      • I am always grateful when I see your comments, Kim. Happy New Year!

  3. Merry Christmas Kate! I hope you have a wonderful time with your family. And I hope that tree remains standing. It looks like the cat would like to bring it down! :-)

    • The cats just like to patrol it, thankfully. We often find them sitting under it.
Hope you are having a wonderful holidays!
