Sometimes a Little Polish is What’s Needed

I’m what most people consider an earthy sort. Don’t wear make-up, rarely bother to blow dry my hair. Don’t worry too much about what I’m wearing. But some days, it is nice to do something out of character. When my office switched companies we were given gift certificates for a local spa as a welcome. This week-end I treated myself to a pedicure.

Some days you just have to let the girlie out.

  1. This cracked me up! And reminded me of once when I went to my chiropractor and she showed me her feet after having a pedicure…I really didn’t know what to say — the idea was so foreign to me!

That said, I’ll make a confession…about 2 years ago, I started to lightly highlight my hair during winter once the sun-bleached portion of my hair grew out. This from someone who doesn’t own even a brush, let alone a hairdryer. It embarrassed me at first…I thought I was being too vain. But then yeah, like you said, sometimes you’ve just got to let the girlie out. Solidarity sister. ;)

    • I’ve been painting my fingernails too – apparently at 41 my girlie started to roar ;-)

  2. Humans have decorated their bodies for thousands of years, men and women. Painting, piercing, scarring, stretching (yikes!), tattooing, dyeing, you name it! If it feels good and makes you happy, I say go for it.

    • Great philosophy and observation!

  3. Gorgeous! I love how you’re letting your girls out to play. I’ve painted my toes & nails for years, though have slowed down in the past few years. It’s a lot of work! But so worth it. Is part of my ‘self-care’ regime :)

Welcome! I always like to hear what people think of a post, it often leads to a great discussion! I am now responding to comments and questions right in the comments themselves, so other people can follow the conversation.
