The clematis has burst open in all its glory. This clematis was an anniversary gift about six years ago, and this is the first year it has done really well. The main reason for that is I insisted that the bbq be moved from its usual summer spot of right in front of the clematis! We liked it there as you then looked out over the mountains while cooking, but the truth is, the bbq was frying the new growth on the clematis every year between the heat from cooking and the heat from the sun reflecting off the bbq. So this year the bbq is on the other side of the deck, away from the clematis, and the clematis is performing beautifully.

The burgers will taste the same no matter where they get cooked, so it seems like a win-win deal to me!

Beautiful! Love the deep, rich pink colour. I once had a beautiful purple clematis when we lived in Calgary and it took several years before it started blooming. Then one year it just never came back :( Fussy little things, aren’t they? lol

So beautiful! I think our clematis drowned this year. No evidence of them which is very sad. I love their flowers.

Yeah, I wish I had a solution for my clematis problem. It’s bumming me right out.
