Baby Blanket, In Demand

When a worker we like and know at Mr. Kate’s work had her first baby I made it a blanket. The mom really really loved the blanket, she told me many times how wonderful it was. Fast forward two years and she was once again expecting. As soon as she told Mr. Kate, she started asking about a new blanket. She ended up going off work early, and so I was surprised by the news that she had had the baby a little early. I had no blanket!

I looked upstairs to see what yarn I had enough of to make a quick baby blanket. I went for the giant dishcloth, as it is quick and easy to work on in the evenings while watching TV. I added a nice crochet border to make it pop. I sent it to work with Mr. Kate for when she comes in with the baby to show it off to everyone at work. I hope she likes it! (She is a very non-girly kind of chick, so I’m hoping the blue will be appreciated even though the baby ended up being a girl…)

  2. What’s not to like? It is perfect for boy or girl. I’m a girl & my fav. colour is blue! I love the pretty white edging, it frames up the whole blanket.

  3. i love how you call this the giant dishcloth! totally made me smile!

i will echo the above sentiments about loving the color and the edging – it’s a wonderful wonderful baby blanket!

  4. A giant dishcloth indeed makes a perfect baby blanket! The variegation of the yarn and the crochet edge add the perfect touch. No doubt that she loved it!
