The Compost Boxes

compost-boxes

They don’t look like much, but those two boxes at the back of my garden hold sought-after treasure. With regular feeding, they go from this:

We will be digging out the compost that is finished on the week-end (barring torrential rain or snow) to add to one of the newer vegetable beds. My boxes aren’t big enough to feed all of my garden, but I share it around. The second box will be ready late spring likely, in time for flower planting.

And the pea and spinach bed is waiting for the forsythia to bloom ….

I love the expectant soil of spring!

  1. This looks so promising!! I have been thinking of making a raised bed garden this year. You asked about the length of my sock cuffs–I try to make them as long as possible actually. I don’t like my legs to show when sitting down, and here in Wisconsin we need all the warmth we can get. I never measure, I just try them on until I like how they look!

  2. or autmn here – this is one of thebest times to plant here as the soil is warm and the sun is cooler! I love your boxes…we use pea straw to cover the seedlings. Looking forward to seeing your spring garden!

Welcome! I always like to hear what people think of a post, it often leads to a great discussion! I am now responding to comments and questions right in the comments themselves, so other people can follow the conversation.
