Amazing Crystals

My step-mom sent the boy the coolest little gift this year. A grow your own snowflake kit. Non-toxic, came with a little pack of liquid and a tray to stand the snowflake in. No explanation, just picture instructions on the back. So the other day we decided, as we were surrounded by snow, we might as well grow the snowflake and have some snow inside to match outside.

So simple and so amazing. It grew in about 7 hours, and has held its shape so far, although the crystals are very delicate.

My dad forwarded a cool crystals for kids website that we plan on using, so if any of you out there want to make some amazing crystals of your own… check out this site.

  1. that is so cool!

  2. I love it, but the geek in me would be really frustrated at the lack of explanation. It would kill me not to know what chemicals were involved. Have you ever grown Borax crystals. It is really easy and fun.

  3. Great kit!!! What a challenge to figure out how it works. My daughter would love it.
